• Question: What fascinated you about science to begin with?

      I was drawn to science because I have a fascination with asking the 5 ‘w”s: Who, What, Where, When and Why and in science class at school, it seemed I was encouraged to keep asking as many questions as I liked. I’m still asking questions to this day!

      Maths. I loved it, not because I was particularly good at it, but I thought of it as a puzzle.

      Every maths question to me was not a test, but like a puzzle that you had to solve. And I like puzzles.

      I’m not really sure. I always asked why ? I was never satisfied with just accepting something for what it was. I always needed to know more, I think that natural curiosity is what led me to science and to ultimately to enrol in a PhD.

      I have to admit I was never fascinated by science, and not sure I ever decided to become a scientist. I was always good at mathematics, and had a logical approach to things…. it seemed to fit, and here I am now!
