I spend 4 years doing my degree in UCC in genetics, and then a further 3 years completing a PhD in Queen’s University Belfast before I started working in RCSI. That was a lot of years of study, but it was extremely interesting, challenging and I had a lot of fun in the process too!

4 years undergraduate and then 4 years PhD – it was fascinating/great fun…. but I started before I was 17, and so it was a huge part of my life.

3 year degree, 1 year masters, 4-5 years PhD.
It was fantastic and worth it- its even more interesting these days as there have been so many interesting advances in knowledge and technology!
